Vacuum-furnaces – design and control – an actual overview
| News category : Column |
The heat treatment in a vacuum-furnace is depending from the design, temperaturecontrol as well as from the achieved vacuum-level during heat treatment applications.
Further parameters for the furnace design is the size of the load, the gas-pressure during quenching and the maximum temperature. The main components of the vacuum furnace are the vessel, the pumping station, the hot zone, the quench-system and the control unit. The demands from the industry concerning the design of the vacuum-furnaces can be summarized in the following parameters:
- high heat treatment temperature
- lowest possible pressure
- fast heating system
- efficient quenching
- high through-put
The today’s in the industry used furnaces can be characterized as follows
- way of loading
- specified temperature-range
- technical design
There are a lot of vacuum-furnaces optimized for specific heat treatment processes.
